Band parent meeting, very important!

Dear Skyline Band Parents and Supporters,

 

 

We will be holding a meeting at 7pm on November 12, 2008 to start discussing building a solid booster group for this wonderful band and color guard that we have.  This will be full of opportunities to get involved with the kids, and help this program grow by leaps and bounds.

 

Mr. Watt will be setting up the Boosters, and coordinating the efforts.  Mrs. Coble will be in charge of secretary/treasurer duties.  What we’re looking for are volunteers to chair the various fundraisers and activities we’re trying to plan.

 

We have many ideas in mind such as a “Cruise Night” and 50’s dance party, this will heavily involve the city of Longmont and build a great community relationship.  We are even considering a pledge carwash, and a march-a-thon.  We have opportunities to do Bingo, we just need parents to help.

 

We also need more parent volunteers for the Jazz Festival in the spring, for Winter Percussion, and we are really in need of a Uniform Chairperson to help Mr. & Mrs. Coble with uniform inventory, repairs, and organization.

 

All of these topics will be discussed in more detail at the meeting, hope to see you all there!

Holiday Fundraiser!

The holiday season is sneaking up on us, as it always seems to do.  We've sent the students home with our holiday fundraiser.  Poinsettias and Christmas Cactus.  Orders MUST be in my December 1, so we can place the order with the company.  They will be delivered on December 10th, the day of our holiday concert.  We are going to use them as decorations for the stage, then you may pick them up after the concert.

We're very proud of the band and color guard.  They finished in the Northern Qualifying Event last Wednesday with a score of 44.85

This was not enough to get us to the next round of competition, but it does not diminish our pride in these kids.  Look how far they've come!

We still have 2 parades coming up, Veteran's Day Parade, which is November 8, and the holiday parade which is December 13.  At this point, this is all the information I have on these two parades, as more information becomes available, I will pass it on!

Lollipop sales are going well, but are starting to slow down.  If you or your child, as the case may be, don't have a bag in your possession please see Mrs. Coble, JJ, or Dan Stechman to get one.  This is an ongoing fundraiser that we will try to keep up all year long.  Also, if you still have an original bag that only had 5 lollipops in it, please turn in your money and get more!

A very special thank you to all the parents that have helped haul equipment this season, we couldn't do this without you!

Regional Competition

The competition itself starts at 3:45.  Skyline goes on at 6:45.  Admission prices ate $8 for adults, $6 for Students and Seniors, they seem to be offering a family package for $30, but I don't have information as to what that includes.  They will have concessions available, and apparently outside food will NOT be permitted in the stadium, so if you are bringing food, or having family bring food to you, it will need to be consumed outside.

Congratulations to the band and color guard for an awesome show in the cold rain on Saturday.  We walked away with a final score of 47.95
